GrEEnCollarEdu.net Launches an Online Community Discussion Forum to serve the Green Building, Remodeling, and Home Performance Industry

Heron, Montana/ March 2009/ GrEEnCollarEdu.net, a service of HVACReducation.net, the leading online industry education provider, announces a new online community discussion forum. Who might join the conversation? It could be you. Do you or someone you know have questions about careers? Do you want to know more about education, or other workforce development programs? How about certification, accreditation, quality assurance, codes, standards, best practices, policy issues, green career paths, financing, tools, equipment, business management issues or technical building performance issues? Do you have a convenient internet based location to find that information without surfing a bunch of websites? You do now. Come join the discussion.

The forum is found at http://www.greencollaredu.net/phbBB3/

Dean of Green Workforce & Education Programs, William J. Parlapiano III, CM, CIAQ said, “The decision to launch this service was simple because we are in the business of education. While most of our services are fee based, each day our staff talks to countless individuals and companies seeking information specific to services we offer, and other times we hear questions related to the efforts of the various partners we work with. With this service we can now bring all those groups together in one convenient place.” He added, “Rather than reinventing the wheel or simply redirecting people to various websites or giving them phone numbers to call, our forum is looking to have people come together, actively participate and learn from each other’s experiences. Think of it as the student or campus center at a college or university where folks can come and interact over a beverage of their choice and share information.”

Blue C. LLC, CEO Chris Compton, the parent corporation of HVACReducation.net and GrEEnCollarEdu.net added, “Creating a community forum where this communication could take place conveniently in one place and is open to anyone with an interest is important to fulfilling our mission. Community service is something we are actively engaged in and this is just one more way we are giving back to the building, remodeling and home performance industries we serve. We hope the users find it beneficial.”

GrEEnCollarEdu.net is seeking forum participants to join the conversation today. Spread the word throughout your networks and get your coworkers and colleagues to join. The service is free whether you want to read only or be engaged in the discussions. Forum partners at both the organizational and individual levels are also being sought.

GrEEnCollarEdu.net (a service of HVACReducation.net) is your source for comprehensive education and training programs that support nationally recognized standards from across the green building and green trades industries in areas such as building performance, renewable energy systems, green remodeling, insulation, air sealing, fenestrations, and the HVAC/R industry.

HVACReducation.net announces its new Dean of Green Workforce Development & Education Programs

HVACReducation.net announces its new Dean of Green Workforce Development & Education Programs - William Parlapiano

Heron, Montana - September 25, 2008 – The leading online HVACR education provider is pleased to announce that William J. Parlapiano III, CM, CIAQ will be joining the executive management team October 1, 2008 as the Dean of Green Collar Workforce Development & Education Programs. HVACReducation.net Chief Executive Officer Chris Compton said, “I am pleased to have him joining the staff. He is an accomplished and respected leader in the HVAC and Building Science industry. Through his leadership, HVACReducation.net is poised to grow exponentially as we move into green collar opportunities.” Mr. Compton added, “in coming weeks we will be making more exciting announcements about our upcoming expansion and growth.”

Mr. Parlapiano is a third generation trade professional, who grew up learning HVAC & Building Forensics. He holds several NATE Certifications, is an RSES Certificate Member (CM), and also holds a Certificate in Indoor Air Quality (CIAQ). He is a faculty member with HVACReducation.net. His only time away from the industry was with the U.S. Army flying aerial reconnaissance missions. In 2006, he founded BP Consulting: Innovative Solutions for a Changing World, a consulting firm focused on green collar workforce development and clean/green technology solutions. Previously, he was Chief Executive Officer for the Building Performance Institute, leading them in a successful national expansion with assistance from U.S. EPA, U.S. DOE, and U.S. HUD. He has also worked for New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and has worked in various positions as a mechanical contractor and consultant. He serves on Boards of Directors for Home Energy Magazine, ACI: Advancing Home Performance, and RSES: The HVACR Training Authority as Region 2 Director. He is a former NATE board member and is active in more than a dozen industry associations, professional societies, technical, and standards committees. He earned a B.S. in Marketing & Management from Siena College, and also studied Mechanical Engineering and Professional Aeronautics.

Mr. Parlapiano stated, “I am very excited to have this opportunity to work with HVACReducation.net in this new capacity. I look forward to providing new and exciting opportunities for the building, remodeling, and trade industries to grow and prosper. This is especially important in these times where every dollar and every minute has become more and more valuable. Online education can help make both time and money go a bit further.” Mr. Parlapiano added his concerns about the state of our industries, “I grew up in an environment where quality and pride in workmanship was paramount. I can thank my father and grandfather, and my other mentors for instilling that in me. I am growing increasingly concerned that we are losing our edge as a nation when it comes to quality and pride in workmanship. Our workforce is not being taught this as we have moved toward commoditizing efforts in lieu of selling quality. I truly believe green collar careers are an opportunity for us to strengthen our resolve, refocus on pride and quality, put millions of people to work, fix our nations growing energy problems, environmental problems, and pour our hard earned money back into our local economies. Our new programs will be an instrument for that change for those who truly want to make a difference in the world. For me, it is worth working every day to make it happen.”

HVACREducation.net serves the educational needs of the Green Collar Workforce engaged in the Residential and Commercial Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Building Performance and Indoor Air Quality industries around the globe through the delivery of quality online education programs and related workforce development services.

Congratulations on Achieving CM Status

Congratulations to Mr. Brian Thomas CM, Mr. Michael O'Hare CM, and Mr. Tom Donmoyer CM of the Lehigh Valley Chapter RSES on their tremendous accomplishment of attaining the Certificate Member status in the Refrigeration Service Engineer Society (RSES). RSES was founded on 1933 as a non profit educational society with a mission to advance the HVACR industry by furthering the education and skills of its members. The CM certification is earned by an RSES member after passing a very difficult exam which tests 18 categories of knowledge required in the installation and servicing of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. The current pass rate on the examination is about 18% and only 15% of the current RSES membership holds this prestigious title. No small accomplishment for these individuals.

(L-R) Tom Donnmoyer CM, William J. Parlapiano III- Region 2 Director, Mike O'Hare CM, Brian Thomas CM receive their certificates at the June 28 Iron Pigs game at the Coca Cola Stadium in Lehigh Valley, PA.
